“Woo!” said a voice behind me. Something was following me. I turned round but nothing was there so I started walking again. I heard another voice saying “Helloooo”! It said. I stopped and turned around again but there was still nothing there. I started to walk faster this time and I was also getting very scared. I ran home and shut the door behind me and ran upstairs to my bedroom. This wasn’t the first time I had been frightened by this ‘ghost’. I’m not actually sure if I was hearing things or not. When I got to my room I saw a glowing light under my bed. “I’ve got the ghost this time I thought!” I slowly crept up to the bed as to not to frighten the ghost. I was petrified the ghost was haunting me, I felt his presence, the ghost grabbed my arm sending a chilling gust of fear down my spine. I pulled back and to my relief the ghost let go and disappeared.
The next morning I went down to get my breakfast. I went down the stairs. The glowing light was there again. The same one that was under my bed! I slowly opened the door and found the ghost there again. “What do you want” I said the ghost turned around to look at me.
“My world has been in war it was lovely like your world but now it’s just a dump.” said the ghost.
“Who were you at war with?” I said.
“I am at war with the ‘Dark Ghosts’. They are the type of Ghosts that haunt living creatures.”
“What kind of ghosts are you?”
“We are the kind ghosts that don’t haunt people and wish to be friends with living creatures. I came to ask you if you could help me build my town again?”
“Well I suppose I could help you.” The ghost did a little victory lap around the kitchen. “Wonderful” said the ghost. “Before we go what is your name?” I asked the ghost.
“My name is Manfred. What is yours?”
“My name is Lucy.”
“Are you ready to go now?”
“Now put your hand on top of mine and close your eyes.”
There was a big bright blue flash and in about ten seconds we were in the Ghosts world.
There was loads of ghosts running around panicking. Manfred floated up into the air and shouted to get the ghosts attention.
“Calm down every one I’ve found a human to help us rebuild our world. Her name is Lucy”
Everyone turned to look at me. They started to murmur quietly to one another. Feeling nervous, I started to shiver. One young ghost came forward and asked “will you help us”? before I had time to answer Manfred said “Of course she can help us” he snapped. The ghost floated back to where he was floating. “Do what you can to help us and we will take you back to your world in return.”
“But what if I can’t help you?” I asked
“Then you will not be returning to your world” said one of the ghosts in the crowd. He was one of the old ghost’s. He had a pair of glasses on his face and a walking stick in his hand.
“The rule has always been the same.” Said the old ghost.
“Have other people been here before to help you?” I asked.
“Yes, but they have failed to help us, so we destroy them.”
“What! You can’t do that.”
“Why can’t we?”
“Because you’re…you’re.”
“You have no excuse so the rules stay the same.” The old ghost interrupted.
"But…”
"Rules are rules. The rules will stay the same until the ghost who is in charge, which is me, changes it.” Said the old ghost. He turned his back to me (obviously not wanting to argue anymore) and floated away.
“Right um Lucy you come with me and I’ll show you what exactly you need to do.” Manfred floated down from where he was floating and guided me to where I was meant to be and told me what I had to do. He told me that I needed to build the whole village in one week. If I took longer or no progress had been made then I would be burned in front of the whole village of ghost. “How long has your village been like this?” I asked.
“It’s been like this when I died and came into the afterlife.”
“So you didn’t fight in the battle against the Dark Ghosts then?”
“No but I died from getting an infection in my leg. My leg was shot in World War One.”
“Then why is there nothing wrong with your leg now?”
“When you go to the afterlife all your cuts and wounds get healed. However you will still have your scar.”
